For Fizzy, a good Southern girl, dealing with her parents' divorce and remarriages has been hard. Her stepmom is too perfect, and her mom's boyfriend is a neat-freak, meaning Fizzy has to learn all sorts of new rules, straining her teaching not to make a fuss or hurt other people's feelings. The "Southern Living" Cook-Off competition helps to distract Fizzy, until she realizes that she has become like the leftovers of her parents' marriage--but she will come to realize that leftovers can still be good, too.
