While on her way to Utah to see her terminally ill mother, Darby Thorne, a poor college art student, gets stranded at a highway rest stop in the Colorado Rockies with four strangers. Trying to find a cell signal to make a desperate call, Darby goes out to her car in the blizzard wind and sees a child locked in an animal crate in the back of one of the strangers' vans. With no contact with anyone outside the shelter, Darby must now find a way to save this girl and also herself, not knowing who she can trust.
