In a land where malevolent spirits threaten the end of humankind, the queen is the only woman who can stop them. However, she is only human, and may die any moment. Young women in the land are specially chosen to train as heirs at all times. Daleina is one such academy student, who just wants to right the wrongs of her land. Events conspire to throw Daleina and Ven, a disgraced exile, together on a quest to find out just why the spirits are restless in the first place.
