Kanzi's family moves from Egypt to America and she wants to fit in with her classmates. On her first day of school, she forgets her sandwich and her mother brings it to school in a hijab and speaks Arabic. Her classmates tease her, and Kanzi goes home and wraps herself in a quilt her grandmother gave her. Then Kanzi shows her quilt at school, and her class makes their own colorful paper quilt with help from Kanzi's mother and it inspires an appreciation of languages in the school.
