Now that magic has been restored to the land of Orïsha, Zélie, a young maji, tries to help Princess Amari ascend the throne and bring peace to the land. But the ritual that brought the magic back has also awakened the powers of Amari's mother, Queen Nehanda, who is alive and has her own plans to take over the throne. Amari and Zélie join a band of rebel maji to defeat the enemies, protect the maji, and prevent Orïsha from collapsing into a civil war.
