Presents a chapter book with four short stories about Lolo, a spunky South African girl, who doesn't let setbacks stop her and finds ways to be creative. Lolo makes a special soup for her mother, discovers the origins of a monster-like sound, and turns her garden into a snail garden when the creatures eat her tomato plants. Lolo also experiences adventure with her grandmother Gogo when they must find transportation home after a holiday visit with family.
